Mary Claire Landry, 94, of Franklin, MA died peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 under the compassionate care of Milford Regional Medical Center Hospice.
Claire, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Franklin, MA to Ovila and Josephine (Fredette) Landry. She was raised in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School.
Claire graduated from the Carney Hospital School of Nursing, the first Catholic nursing school in New England. She dedicated herself to a professional career in nursing for 45 years. Many of those years were spent at the Woonsocket Hospital in Woonsocket, RI (currently part of the Landmark Medical Center) where Claire ultimately specialized in emergency room nursing. She retired from her professional position in 1988, yet Claire never stopped being a compassionate caregiver to everyone whose life she touched.
During her years of residence in Woonsocket, RI, Claire was a devoted member of Saint Ann’s Church where she volunteered in many administrative roles. In 2014, Claire returned to Franklin. Most recently, she was a resident of Magnolia Heights. Claire engaged friends and neighbors in a variety of exercise classes and social activities. An avid reader, she enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends.
She was the sister of the late Doris Bly, Alvin Landry and Lionel Landry. Her many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews mourn the loss of their precious aunt Claire who was a model to them through her active and fulfilling life of service to family and community.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, RI 02895. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association www2.heart.org
