Woonsocket - Joseph N. Belleville, 83, of Diamond Hill Rd, passed away, Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. He was the beloved husband of Erna (Schwenk) Belleville for 62 years.

Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Henri and Florence (Charron) Belleville. And his step father, the late Roland O. Charron.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, and The Good Conduct Service Medal. He served in the 24th Infantry Division and the 36th Infantry Regiment Task Force Smith. He was a member of the Korean Club Organization Chapter 2 Chepachet, RI, The Korean War Veterans Association, and The American Legion Fairmont Post 85.

He worked as a Program Analyst and was lead Computer Machine Operator and the DPI Section Chief for the United States Property Fiscal Office.

Mr Belleville had a fascination with electronics, including once building a television for his family.He also enjoyed watching classic movies, while sharing chocolates and sweets with all of his loved ones. Mr Belleville who was known as “Opa” to his family truly loved being surrounded by them all.

Besides his loving wife Erna, he is survived by his 8 children, Bernd Schwenk and his wife Monika of Oppenheim, Germany, Thomas H. Belleville and his wife Helen of Coventry, Stephen C. Belleville of N. Providence, Michael R. Belleville and his wife Cheryl of Bellingham, Marie L. Giard of N. Providence, Gloria E. St. Onge and her husband Camille of Woonsocket, John P. Belleville and his wife Eileen of N. Providence, and Josef J. Belleville and his wife Kathleen of Woonsocket. 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was also the brother of the late Jocelyn Heckman.

His funeral will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 9 AM in the Blackstone Valley Baptist Church 40 Pine Swamp Rd Cumberland, RI 02864. Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter RI. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Woonsocket, RI 02895 are in charge of the arrangements.
