Woonsocket — Joseph D. DePiero 84, of Summit St. died, peacefully, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Baillangeon) DePiero. Elaine and Joe were married for 62 years.

Born in Bellingham, MA, son of the late Dominic and Inez (Ciccone) DePiero.

He was a self employed Stone Mason for several years prior to retiring.

He was a professional boxer in the area. He enjoyed horse racing and was the owner of several thoroughbred horses which he raced at Lincoln and Suffolk Downs. He loved his family very much especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his close nieces and nephews.

Besides his beloved wife Elaine, he is survived by his two children, Kim Fregeau and her husband Albert of Woonsocket and Dean DePiero and his fiancée Cheryl-Amy Casey of Woonsocket. One brother, Robert DePiero of Milford, MA. His daughter in law Paula Hemond DePiero of Woonsocket. Three grandchildren, Erin, Jay, and Drew. Two great-grandchildren, Max and Isabella.

He was also the brother of the late Virginia Taglianetti and Richard DePiero.

His funeral and burial are private . The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home,1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
