Woonsocket — Bessie Mae (Allen) Chattman 94, of St. Joseph St. passed away peacefully, Monday, May 18, 2020 in Trinity Health & Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Alfonso Chattman.

Born in Newberry So. Carolina, daughter of the late Harry and Frances (Allen) Pitts.

She worked as a Seamstress for the former Narragansett Knitting for several years prior to retiring.

Bessie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, fishing, singing,

dinning out, and taking trips to the Casino’s. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and the Price is Right. Bessie was totally overjoyed the day that she went to Twin Rivers and got to meet Smokey Robinson and receive a hug from him.

She is survived by her six children, Timothy Chattman of Oregon, Deborah Chattman of No. Providence, Nate Chattman, of Riverside, David Chattman and his wife Teresa of Woonsocket, Beverly Wilson of E. Providence, and Lisa Chattman of So. Carolina. Eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Samual Chattman and the sister of the late Willie, Johnnie, and Jimmy Allen.

Her Funeral and Burial are private. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
